Want to share some documents? You do not want to lose control over time?
New options in Google Drive for Work will allow you to adjust to your sharing preferences. A major asset in terms of managing access to your information.
Today, companies are required to work collaboratively either internally and externally with partners, suppliers, customers, etc. Often, sharing needs to be managed under a temporary basis. But then: how not to get lost and retrace your steps to check what has been shared and that no longer should be …
Well, it will be possible very soon in Google Drive. Indeed, Google is introducing the ability to set an “expiration date” for specific user access to files in Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
For example, imagine that your company hires an outside resource to collaborate on a project lasting three months. To accomplish its work, the consultant needs access to documents shared with the project team to be able to read and share his comments. With these new sharing options with expiration dates, you will be able to share all relevant documents without having to return to each sharing settings that have been made to this employee. After expiration date, that person will be denied access automatically.

This functionality, coupled with the Information Rights Management (IRM) launched in July 2015 should significantly increase the security of your organization’s documents and information
Note that the expiration dates will be applicable only for users with comment or view access: it does not concern the file owners or users with edit access to those documents.
IMPORTANT: This feature will be deployed within two to three months. This should therefore be possible for you to experience it just before your summer vacation!
