Google<\/strong> Inc.’s cloud<\/strong> service offering has just marked one of its most publicized wins among customers.<\/p>\n

In a blog post published this afternoon, Parag Agrawal, CTO of Twitter<\/strong> Inc., revealed that the social network plans to migrate some of its infrastructure to the Google Cloud platform. According to the executive, the move is designed to meet the “growing needs of our service”, especially with respect to the analysis.<\/p>\n

This project has two goals: Twitter<\/strong> plans to migrate the cold storage systems it uses to host data that is rarely accessed; several deployments of Hadoop (the popular open source analysis framework) as well as hosting more than 300 petabytes of data on tens of thousands of servers.<\/p>\n

For Google<\/strong>, the deal is more than just a contract. The fact that a company as important as Twitter has chosen its platform is a great victory on Amazon Web Services Inc. and Microsoft Corp., its main rivals in the public cloud.<\/p>\n

The announcement of the migration comes three days after Google signed a contract with another leading technology company, Fitbit Inc. As part of this project, it will use the platform of the research giant to address biometric readings collected by his devices. with electronic health records, for medical purposes.<\/p>\n
